I’ve heard from people who might have met me in the last few years that I am very consistent at blogging.

That’s their perception of a limited view of my reality. Some think that’s overwhelming (“I’d never be able to do that!”)

Look at the chart below:

What is consistent there?

The only thing I see is that Average Words per Post is higher than 600 consecutively from 2022 through 2025.

What’s inconsistent?

  • I didn’t publish at least one post every year
  • Huge standard deviation of both Average Words per Post and Total Posts in the years I published

I look at that chart, and I know the stories behind some of those years. I document those in personal notes.

As I take another look, I actually do see something else that is consistent:

It doesn’t matter whether I come from a very strong year or a low/nonexistent one (in terms of posts published): I always get back to it!

It’s important to step back and see the big picture to identify where we can apply consistency rather than intensity.

If you’re unsure about starting a blog, my recommendation is to just do it.
