Ok, ok, I’m signing up for this Twitter thing…

Markus has been harassing me about to get into these Facebook and Twitter things. I’ve signed up for Facebook a few weeks ago (even though I don’t waste my time with those little applications they have there…). Now he’s been on my tail saying I have to do this Twitter thing, which I have seen people talking a lot about it, but I still can’t really see why I’d want to use it.   🙂

I’ve decided to give it a go… let’s see… I’ll either get hooked, or just not use it for too long.  It seems to me like a new spin to the whole Big Brother thing. 🙂

Well, anyways, I’m there: http://twitter.com/ClaudioLassala

    Claudio,

I, like you, also don\’t get the twitter thing. Maybe it\’s pure entertainment? But where is the entertainment?

    Hi Bill,

yeah, I don\’t know. I\’ve been using it for the last few days. So far, I haven\’t had a big "a-ha" moment. I\’ll blog about if I ever do.  🙂

I too was like you at first. But, as the leader of multiple user groups and coordinator of community events, I looked at it as a way to easily and quickly communicate headline news to listeners.

Then, I started following some really great developers and now I can find out about things faster than by any other means. Plus, if you ever have a question, you could get an answer reasonably fast.

Who has time to post a huge blog post? Lately, I haven\’t. Although, I hope to change this soon. In the mean time, this is a way to still post updates, etc. "micro-blogging". It\’s also like group IM\’ing. It\’s also like IM\’ing when neither has to be online right at that moment.

Twitter is definitely not a new concept. Many other sites and IM products *could* have been utilized to do this same thing.

    But they weren\’t.

What I would like to see is a common API standard across all these things called a "Personal Status API" or something so you can post it to one tool and it go to all of them.

In the mean time, I\’ve consolidated all my IM clients and Twitter clients with one pretty cool product that\’s currently in beta http://www.disgby.com.

See you on the tweet side and at http://www.schoolofdev.com soon Claudio!

    Keep rocking!

    Hi Dave,

yeah, I\’ve been on it for about a week now. Let\’s give it a few more weeks before I decide whether I like it or not.  🙂
