A couple of weeks ago I attended Joshua Kessler’s presentation at the Houston Open Development User Group on Bash. I got the first hour on video made it available here. Quite a few things went flying over my head as I’m just getting started on using Bash, but it’s good that I have this recorded so I can come back to it and review things I missed this time around.
Josh shows how he uses Bash on daily basis to help him automate tasks and get stuff done.
Joshua Kessler is an IT Manager who has worked as a professional software developer with over a decade of experience. I’ve been using Linux and other un*x like operating systems as my primary OS from as far back as 1993. He is also the vice president of the Houston Open Development User Group.

I just discovered this and knew it would help you:

Eric Wendelin has a number of excellent bash tutorials covering find, grep, awk, vim, etc.
I wanted to let you know here in case I miss the Virtual Brown Bag this week.

Hi Scott,
Thank you very much for the tip. I just got the PeepCode episodes on the “command line”; those videos, plus Eric’s tutorials are sure to be very helpful for me. I’ll add this to the list of things to share at the VBB.
